INJURY UPDATE: BRADFORD

25 January 2019

BEN Turner will miss tomorrow's home game against Bradford after pulling up during Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie with Manchester City.

Nigel Clough said: "It was his calf that went so he's definitely no good for the weekend.

"We are then waiting on Scott Fraser and Jamie Allen who missed out on Wesdnesady with knocks

"Stephen Quinn picked up a dead leg which is why he came off at half-time.

"Jake Buxton and John Brayford should be OK but Kyle McFadzean is pushing them as he did well on Wednesday."

Marvin Sordell is also getting close to being back involved in the squad as he recovers from a knee injury picked up in the FA Cup game at Scunthorpe in November.

Clough said: "He's been trying to come back from this knee niggle and every time he steps it up he gets a bit of pain. But he's been out on the grass this week one-on-one with Nick Fenton with a view to joining in training next week we hope."

Clough is hoping his players can recover from the physical efforts of Wednesday night.

He said: "It was more taxing in this leg because of the pressing. It will have taken more out of the players and there are certain ones we didn't want to have to play 90 minutes but ended up having to.

"We were sharing the load and were looking ahead to Saturday and had our teams thought out in advance. Ben Turner coming off hindered that."

Clough is hoping that a run of games against teams who are in the bottom half of the table can see the Brewers push on.

He said: "We can't afford too many defeats now if we are going to threaten the play off places. We will need to average two points a game now. That's the challenge for the payers. The cup's done and we want t give everything in the remaining league games and see how close we can get."
