Having held the Bantams for much of the game, a late winner for the home side meant that the Young Brewers have now won twice and lost twice in the Youth Alliance since the turn of the year.
Rose says that the team is playing well and that they have made significant improvements in many aspects of their game since the turn of the year.
He said: “Bradford are a good side, they play some good football and they will have a lot of the ball if you let them. They create chances by playing through the pitch, so we set up to try to stop that from happening.
“We played on the front foot but we maybe didn’t show enough quality to score a goal as Bradford made it difficult for us when we had the ball. Maybe a draw would have been a fair result on the balance of chances in the game.
“I think we are definitely improving from where we were at the start of the season and during a difficult spell before the end of the year. When we have lost games, we have lost narrowly, 1-0 is a tight margin and those games could have gone either way. We are scoring a lot of goals and creating plenty of chances in games, so I think the key will be for us to score first and try to take the game to teams between now and the end of the season.
“We have plenty of opportunities during the week to help the players improve individually and we are making headway with the things that we do out of possession. We have also improved with the ball, so it is onwards and upwards.”
Defender Cael McDonnell echoes Rose’s sentiments.
He said: “Bradford are a good side but I thought the boys did well, particularly in the first-half. We kept the ball well at times although we didn’t see it as much as we have in previous games. We just didn’t find that bit to get us a point, or maybe even three points.”
