INJURY UPDATE: OXFORD

30 January 2019

NIGEL Clough is hoping to have close to a full squad to chose from as the Brewers face Oxford United on Saturday at the Pirelli Stadium (kick off 3pm).

Ben Turner’s calf injury has ruled him out for the next few weeks but other than the defender, the manager only has two worries.

He said: “We picked up a couple in training unfortunately. Damien McCrory got a dead leg from an innocuous challenge and Ben Fox had a tight hamstring so they are doubts for Saturday.

“Marvin Sordell is back training this week, but it will probably be too soon for him to be involved on Saturday but everybody else should be ok.”

After a packed recent fixture programme Albion are enjoying a rare seven-day break between fixtures which Clough is hoping will benefit the squad.

He said: “It’s right for us at the moment with the weather as well we would have struggled to get a  game on in the freezing conditions and hopefully we won’t get too much snow now and can get the game on this Saturday.

“It’s giving us a chance to rest one or two niggles and get over the stresses and strains of last week, mentally and physically with the three hard games we have had. It’s a nice clear week but whether or not it’s been of benefit, the only way we know will be how we play on Saturday.”
