BURTON Albion Football Club can confirm that forward Marcus Harness has joined Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.

Harness, a graduate of the Brewers Academy, made his Albion debut in September 2013 and last season scored six goals for the club, including a hat-trick at Rochdale in early January.

The 23-year-old broke into the first team in December, making 39 appearances in total over the 2018/19 campaign, including both legs of our Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

Harness is one of several Academy players to have broken through into the first team in recent years, with Ben Fox, Joe Sbarra and Reece Hutchinson all featuring heavily for the senior side last campaign.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: “Marcus has worked incredibly hard and had a very good second half of last season. He has been with the club quite a few years and we thank him for all he has done and wish him all the best for the future.”
