OLD FOOTBALLS PROVE A HIT WITH RSPCA DOGS

13 June 2019

NOT all of Burton Albion’s matchday footballs make it through the season but the Brewers have found a new use for the ones that are no longer match-fit.

Lucas Akins and Liam Boyce may not have any use for them anymore but the dogs at the RSPCA Hillfield Animal Home still love them.

The club donated last season’s match-worn footballs to the centre and they are already getting good use from some grateful canines.

Susie O'Neill, Public Engagement Manager, said: “As an independently funded charity, we rely solely on donations, fundraising and kind gifts like these to provide the enrichment that our animals need.

“Some of the dogs that enter our care find everything so new and scary that being given the opportunity to really relax and play is a whole new experience. And being surrounded by footballs is an absolute dream for most of them!”
