BREWERS START SEASON AT HOME TO IPSWICH

20 June 2019

THE Brewers will kick off the 2019/20 season with a home game against Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys were relegated from the Championship last season and will be an attractive opening day fixture for the League One season on Saturday, August 3.

Nigel Clough’s team will be hoping to take advantage of a home game to start the season with a vital three points as they look to build on last year’s ninth-place finish.

The Brewers will also end the season with a home game against one of the promotion favourites Portsmouth – who made the play-offs in 2018/19.

That will take place on Sunday May 3 with a noon kick off.

It will be another Boxing Day cracker at the Pirelli Stadium as Burton Albion take on newly-promoted Tranmere Rovers.

That completes a Christmas home double as the Brewers are also at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, December 21, when the visitors will be Rochdale.

The festive fixtures will be completed with back-to-back away games as the Brewers travel to Accrington on Sunday, December 29 and then Bolton on New Year's Day

On Good Friday (April 10) Albion are at home to Shrewsbury and then Travel to Bristol Rovers on Easter Monday (April 13).

Nigel Clough was delighted to start the season at home:

He said: “What a great game at home to kick off the new season in just over six weeks’ time.

"Ipswich are among the biggest clubs in the League who will be looking for an immediate return to the Championship.

“It’s always nice to be at home on Boxing Day and the trip up to Bolton on New Year’s Day isn’t too bad.

“And to finish the season at home to Portsmouth is another big game and could be crucial for either club.

“Now the fixtures are out, the Ipswich opener really gives us something to work towards.”
