BREWERS TO PROVIDE FREE SANITARY PRODUCTS AT PIRELLI STADIUM

14 March 2019

BURTON Albion are committing to providing female supporters with free sanitary products at the Pirelli Stadium, beginning with this weekend’s match at home to Blackpool.

The club will make these products available in all ladies toilets at the Pirelli Stadium, on matchdays and during the week for guests to the club.

The scheme follows the excellent work done by the On The Ball Campaign, founded by three female football fans, which aims to lift the stigma around periods and highlight the issue of period poverty, which describes the difficulty faced by many women and girls in affording sanitary wear.

A study by Plan International found that one in 10 girls were unable to afford sanitary products, with one in seven struggling to afford it.

Burton Albion Commercial Director Fleur Robinson said: “This is an important and positive step and a campaign we really wanted to back at Burton Albion, to support our female supporters and guests.

“Poverty period is unfortunately an issue many women in today’s world face - and we hope that we can raise awareness while also helping those who need it when they visit the Pirelli Stadium.”
