COLLINS PRAISES EXPERIENCED PLAYERS AROUND HIM

18 March 2019

BRAD Collins has praised the experienced players in the Brewers side for their work on the pitch and in the dressing room, admitting that he has learnt a lot during his time at the Pirelli Stadium.

Having kept his ninth clean sheet of the campaign against Blackpool, Collins has caught the eye during his loan spell from Chelsea.

Along with an array of confident goalkeeping and good performances, Collins has often had a strong defence in front of him, something that he is grateful for.

He said: “It’s great for me, players who have played at a high level the likes of Jake Buxton and Kyle McFadzean who have made over 500 professional appearances between them.

“I’ve come in and learn a lot from them every day. It’s just great to have them in front of me and the trust we have in each other is great.

“The amount of appearances they’ve got between them, they’re very experienced defenders. I have full trusts in them, and it shows in the clean sheets we keep getting.”

Collins is not only thankful for the defence in front of him, but also the players further up the field. The goalkeeper praised Lucas Akins for his influence on and off the field.

He said: “Lucas, everyone says he is the nicest lad in football and what a terrific guy. I am buzzing for him to get on the scoresheet and I hope he keeps doing it, because he deserves it. He puts 110% every day and gets the rewards there.

“As soon as I came in, straight away you can just tell. He’s a real gentleman. We are lucky to have him.”
