BOYCE WILL BE A BIG MISS FOR THE BREWERS

22 March 2019

NIGEL Clough has a full squad to choose from for tomorrow’s home game with Accrington Stanley with the exception of Liam Boyce who is on international duty with Northern Ireland.

The rest of the squad have been at a warm weather training camp in Spain this week and have returned refreshed and ready for tomorrow’s game at the Pirelli Stadium (kick off 3pm).

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: “We had a good couple of training sessions, and it was nice to be training in warm weather with no wind and rain and even at this stage of the season it’s always good for team bonding.

“We just have Liam Boyce missing on international duty but everyone else is fit and a couple of days’ break and sunshine has given a couple of them time to rest and their bodies time to recover.”

Clough is frustrated that he will be without his leading striker with no international break for League One clubs.

He said: “Liam is probably as confident after last week’s goal and performance as he has been at any time in the last three months and we don’t see him for another two weeks.

“If we had lost Liam any time in that three months it wouldn’t have been as big a blow. We hope he can get some game time with Northern Ireland and still come back confident and ready for Barnsley - but it is frustrating.”
