THE Academy once again teamed up with the Burton Albion Community Trust to give the Young Brewers a chance to experience playing on the Pirelli Stadium pitch.
With the first team having played their final home game of the season last Saturday, every team from our under 9s to under 15s had the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of their Burton Albion heroes by playing at the home of the Brewers.
With the under 18s facing Coventry at the Pirelli Stadium during this season’s FA Youth Cup last year, the Academy games against teams from BACT’s Advance Development Centre mean players from every Burton Albion team, from the first team and Academy, has now played on the first team pitch this season.
In a highly entertaining night of football, the Academy and Community Trust experienced the feel of a first team game with the scoreboard, music and stadium announcer creating a big match atmosphere.
Academy Head of Coaching Hannah Dingley said:“Playing on the Pirelli pitch was a fantastic opportunity for our boys to experience playing in a stadium. There was some fantastic football played by both sides and it was a great advertisement for the hard work the coaches put in helping the boys develop.
“We have a close relationship with Burton Albion Community Trust and this is another great example of us working together to create opportunities for young players.”
