CLOUGH LOOKS TO END SEASON WITH A WIN

3 May 2019

NIGEL Clough wants to keep the feelgood factor going for his Brewers squad by completing the season with an away win at Peterborough tomorrow (kick off 5.30pm).

The Brewers manager says his team are playing with confidence and will be taking that momentum into next season.

After the home win over Luton Town last Saturday the Brewers now finish the campaign against The Posh.

Clough said: "I think we go into next season with a lot of optimism and some momentum from the way we are finishing this season. You sense with the players as well that they are looking forward to pre-season.

"They are genuinely excited about next season and that's a great way to go into the summer. If they are like that I hope the supporters ae as well.

"It would be nice now to go to Peterborough and continue to play the way we have been."

The Brewers three biggest injury doubts are Liam Boyce, Jake Buxton and Brad Collins.

Clough said: "Jake is back training and hopefully will be back in the squad. Brad hasn't done any functional training yet so it might be too much of a risk. Liam has trained this week so he has an outside chance."

Boyce is tied with Lucas Akins for top goalscorer with both players having scored 14 goals giving them an extra incentive to get on the scoresheet.

Akins, named Player of the Season this week, will also have played in every minute of every game this League One season if he gets through 90 minutes.

Clough said: "That's an incredible achievement. You see the esteem that everyone has for him - the supporters and his teammates alike."
