CORPORATE FIVE-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT RAISES £5,000 FOR BACT - AND SAVE THE DATE FOR SEPTEMBER

14 May 2019

LOCAL businesses have enjoyed an unforgettable day of football at our Corporate Five-a-Side tournament at the Pirelli Stadium  - with £5,000 raised for Burton Albion Community Trust’s disability projects!

And businesses should save the date for our upcoming Brewers Business Games on Friday, September 20th – the perfect team-building event for your staff this Autumn!

Following the success of the tournament - which was won by Group A entrants JCB - businesses were asked for their impressions of the day, which allowed representatives from those companies the opportunity to play on the Pirelli Stadium pitch, graced this season by the likes of Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne!

A donation from proceeds on the day was made to Burton Albion Community Trust.

Head of Community Matt Hancock said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the local businesses who took part in our Corporate Five-a-Side tournament, and we hope they all enjoyed their day.

“By taking part in the tournament, these businesses, all of whom understand the importance of supporting your local community, will help us to run several important programmes across East Staffordshire, including Able Too Albion and Powerchair Football.

“We can only thank those who took part and especially event sponsors Booker Wholesale.”

Brian Davies from Booker said: “It was a very enjoyable event and we were delighted to be the main sponsors.

“Thanks to Burton Albion Football Club for hosting such a well-organised event and we were delighted to help raise money for Burton Albion Community Trust.”

Andrew Hayward of Russell Roof Tiles said: “We had good fun for a good cause. It was really well organised and the pitch is great.

“You can’t beat it. To get 20 teams out here, all local suppliers, is absolutely fantastic.”

Joshua Wright from eventual winners JCB said: “It was really enjoyable and when it started raining, the pitch got a bit of zip on it so there were slide tackles flying in!

“It’s been a good day.”

Marc Freer of Wilo UK said: “Brilliant - it’s been amazing. We’ve all enjoyed ourselves and we didn’t expect to have so much fun, to be honest!”

Burton Albion Commercial Director Fleur Robinson said: “It’s fantastic that the teams from across the football club and Community Trust have been able to work together to put an event on like this, and everybody seems to have had a really good time.

“The businesses who took part in the event really put the community at the heart of what they do, as we do at Burton Albion Football Club and Burton Albion Community Trust.

“The money raised will go towards important projects for people in our community.

“And we look forward now to September, when we will be hosting our Brewers Business Games, something that we are sure local businesses will be keen to be involved in.”

On September 20, Burton Albion will host the Brewers Business Games – filled with fun, sports day-themed games, food and drink, this event is not to be missed!

Further details will follow via the club website, so make sure to save the date and keep an eye on www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk as well as our official social media channels for all the information!
