PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH UNITED

22 November 2019

WE return to SkyBet League One action this weekend with an away trip to the Weston Homes Stadium and Peterborough United. Find out all the information you need with our match preview here.

Head 2 Head

Last season saw Peterborough take all six points in our two League One fixtures against them; a 2-1 win at the Pirelli Stadium in October 2018, and a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture on the last day of the 2018-19 season.

However the overall head-to-head results against us and the Posh is equal, with three wins each and a draw across seven matches, stretching back to November 2005.

The first meeting between us and Peterborough United came in the FA Cup First Round, as the Brewers won 1-0 in a replay to make the Second Round against Burscough… before a fairly low-key affair with Premier League Manchester United in the Third Round.

Burton Albion News

The Brewers come into this fixture on the back of an excellent 4-1 win against Salford City in the FA Cup First Round replay at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night. This result comes at a good time having been out of League One action since the 2nd November against Doncaster Rovers.

In team news, manager Nigel Clough is waiting on the fitness of Scott Fraser, David Templeton, Jake Buxton, Richard Nartey, Reece Hutchinson and John Brayford.

However, there are the welcome additions of Liam Boyce and Nathan Broadhead who have both returned from international duty, whilst Kieran O’Hara was able to return early following the Republic of Ireland’s tie against Denmark on Monday night.

Peterborough United News

Posh will be without prolific striker Ivan Toney due to suspension, however their attacking personnel will still pose a threat.

Although top scorers in League One this season with 39 goals, we face a Posh-side who are without a win in their last three league matches, but they did record a 2-0 victory over Stevenage in an FA Cup First Round replay on Tuesday night.

Match Officials

Tomorrow’s referee will be Mr Will Finnie, assisted by Mr Louis Marks and Mr Stephen Finch. The Fourth Official will be Mr Marvyn Amphlett.

Finnie has officiated two League One games this season, and in those he has awarded 11 yellow cards, of which one was converted to a red, and a penalty in each. Overall he has been in charge of 16 matches this season and produced 51 yellow cards and awarded three spot-kicks.
