INJURY UPDATE: FLEETWOOD

16 October 2019

STEPHEN Quinn and John Brayford are still struggling to shake off injuries ahead of Saturday’s trip to Fleetwood (kick off 3pm).

Quinn (knee) and Brayford (calf) were hoping to use the international break to get back into contention but Albion manager Nigel Clough says they may need more time.

He said: “Stephen hasn’t trained yet this week, so we are not sure about him. It’s about when we put him out there and risk him. John is a little bit further ahead but still a doubt for Saturday.

“We were hoping they would be available for Saturday but if they aren’t ready with so many games left there is no point in taking the chance and risking them.”

There is better news with skipper Jake Buxton and his rib injury.

Clough said: “Jake is OK after coming through the Hednesford game so he’s available. He’s still not 100 per cent but he will certainly be in the squad.

“But after winning 3-0 away from home there is an argument about not changing the team even if those three are fit.”

Clough said the rest of the squad are raring to go after the break.

He said: “When the breaks have come we have needed them so it has been a bit stop-start but it’s something the players have to adapt to. After November (when there is another international break) you really get into the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday swing of things.”
