KIERAN WALLACE EXPECTS TOUGH TEST AGAINST FLEETWOOD TOWN

16 October 2019

Versatile Brewers defender Kieran Wallace has previewed our forthcoming away match at Fleetwood Town on Saturday, underlining the squad’s keenness to right last season’s defeats against the Cod Army.

24-year-old Wallace expects a similarly tough test this season, albeit in better weather conditions to our last visit to Highbury Stadium.

“I think they are quite similar to us,” said Wallace.

“They’ve got good players; they have spent quite a bit of money in the summer to bring in these good players, especially to this level, so they will be a good team.

“I remember last season they were very hard to beat both home and away. They came set up in a 4-5-1 [formation] and they were really hard to beat, we couldn’t really play through them and I think they will probably be the same. They have moulded into Joey Barton’s style of play.”

However, the Brewers currently sit only one goal behind Premier League elite Manchester City in topping the away goals chart for the 2019 calendar year, and Kieran sees this visit to north-west Lancashire as a chance to capitalise on these away performances and move further up the League One table.

Wallace said: “They have had a good start, but they are in the position that we want to be in in the play-offs.

“We’ve got to go there and take points off them.”
