AKINS LOOKS FOR RESPONSE IN BACK-TO-BACK HOME GAMES

21 October 2019

LUCAS Akins is looking for the Brewers to bounce back from our weekend defeat as we take on AFC Wimbledon at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow (7.45pm).

The Brewers host Wimbledon tomorrow and Blackpool on Saturday at 3pm.

Being back on home turf will hopefully provide the best performances, securing points needed to return to a good league run.

Despite being level at half time, the Brewers lost 4-1 away from home with Fleetwood Town’s Paddy Madden scoring a hattrick, leaving Nigel Clough’s side in 15th place in the league table.

It’s not always easy to bounce back from a lost game but the Brewers are set on moving forward, and with two home games this week, Burton have a good chance to grab points and climb up the table.

Akins said: “First and foremost, we need to get back to winning ways and try and get a result on Tuesday to push ourselves forward up the league now.

“It’s fortunate that we’ve got the home game now on Tuesday to try and put today behind us.

“In any successful team, the home form is always a great basis of where you’re going to be in the league so it’s vital now that we do that (pick up points at home).

“The supporters have been really, really good in my time here so to be honest I can’t really thank them enough.”

The international break isn’t thought to have brought too much disruption to the team’s performances.

“It gives players who are unfortunately injured at the moment time to recover,” said Akins.
