INJURY UPDATE: BLACKPOOL

25 October 2019

BREWERS manager Nigel Clough has provided an update on the squad’s fitness going into our next match against Blackpool on Saturday.

Stephen Quinn returned to the squad and was on the bench for AFC Wimbledon, having been subbed in our 2-1 defeat to Tranmere in mid-September.

Clough said of Quinn: “It was good to get him back on the bench. [Prior to Wimbledon] he had only done half a day’s training with us.

“We will see how he is towards Blackpool. It might be a bit too much to ask of him to come straight back in with the team playing well.

“There won’t be too many changes. He’ll be okay and available.”

More good news came in the form of Oliver Sarkic and his hamstring, which saw him miss the AFC Wimbledon game.

Nigel Clough said: “It is more precautionary but we are hoping that he will train on Friday morning and be available. He felt his hamstring after Fleetwood but we are hoping that he will be okay.”

Clough was also pleased that David Templeton was seeing plenty of minutes in the team as of late, having had a disrupted pre-season due to injury.

“[Temps] is looking sharper in training in the last week or two. It is just a dilemma because he needs a run of games to get up to speed, yet we can’t afford to give him that run of games until he gets up to speed.

“It is difficult but we can see that he is an impact player, whether he starts for 60 minutes or comes off the bench, and he is the sort of player that can make things happen - score goals or make goals. He got us going early on against Wimbledon, with a shot 30 seconds into the game and he is one who lifts the crowds and gets people on their feet.”

Overall the Brewers manager is happy as the team approaches a busy run of fixtures:

“We will have a pretty much full squad to choose from which is great. I think with the games that we have coming up, it will be pretty hectic so it is good that we have got everybody fit.”
