MATCH PREVIEW: TRANMERE (AWAY)

20 September 2019

THE Brewers look to extend their unbeaten run to eight games as they travel to Tranmere tomorrow (kick off 3pm).

HEAD 2 HEAD

The last time the Brewers played Tranmere was when both clubs were in League Two in the 2014/15 season. The Brewers won 2-0 in the home fixture played on Boxing Day and then completed the double with an impressive 4-1 win at Prenton Park in March.

BREWERS TEAM NEWS

Liam Boyce (hamstring), Jake Buxton (ribs) and Scott Fraser (dead leg/sore ankle) are the main injury worries. Boyce and Buxton did come on from the bench on Tuesday at Portsmouth but will have to be assessed before tomorrow’s game. Fraser didn’t make it through warm up on Tuesday but hopes to be fit for Tranmere. Colin Daniel is expected to play despite a head wound picked up at Portsmouth,

TRANMERE NEWS

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon told the club’s official website: “My job is to make a group of players very competitive in League One and my part is to keep improving them and we understand that it is a development thing so we have to develop into this team that is used to the tempo of what this division gives you, but we are definitely, 100% moving in the right direction.

“I hope that people see a group coming together, both management staff and players and developing into a competitive League One team which we are working very hard to become on the training pitch every day.”

REFEREE

The man in charge of the game is Alan Young. His assistants will be Natalie Aspinall and Craig Taylor.

Mr Young last refereed a League One game on August 31 – the 0-0 between Wimbledon and Wycombe. He has handed out 25 yellow cards and two red cards in his eight games so far this season.
