BURTON Albion Ladies have been given a unique opportunity this week, getting the chance join an online video call with England Women’s international, Alex Greenwood.
The Lionesses star, who currently plies her trade in France with UEFA Champions League winners, Olympic Lyonnaise, joined players, coaches and parents from across all age groups to do a question and answer session.
Fleur Robinson, Burton Albion Commercial Director, hosted the call to the former Everton, Notts County, Liverpool and Manchester United player, focusing questions on Alex’s career to date, major highlights so far and experiences since becoming a professional footballer.
Dan Robinson, Head of Burton Albion Academy, who’s also had plenty of experience of working previously in the women’s international game, also asked a number of questions, prompting more valuable advice from Greenwood.
The Zoom video call lasted for over one hour, with Greenwood giving a real in-depth insight into life as a professional footballer. Before the end of the session, there was also another fantastic experience for the attendees, getting the chance to ask their own personal questions to the England star.
Following the call, Fleur Robinson was delighted with the experience that the call had given everyone involved. She said: “We’re truly grateful to Alex for giving up her time and joining us. She spoke fantastically, during a period where we can all benefit from listening to someone inspirational.
“She had some amazing stories to tell and advice to give, also touching on how important education is for all the girls throughout whatever career they choose. This was great to hear, as education’s something that we value just as much as football across the whole of Burton Albion and Burton Albion Community Trust.
“She was very engaging and really was a joy to listen to. We can’t thank her enough for joining us and it’s an experience that will last long in the memory!”
