BREWERS DRAW ACCRINGTON STANLEY IN CARABAO CUP FIRST ROUND

18 August 2020

BURTON Albion will play Accrington Stanley in the first round of the Carabao Cup at the Pirelli Stadium, with ties provisionally scheduled for the weekend of September 5/6.

Albion will host our Sky Bet League One rivals on the weekend before the new league season is set to begin as we look to continue our fine form in this competition over the last two seasons.

The Brewers reached the fourth round of this competition last season, exiting to Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City following victories over Port Vale, Morecambe and then-Premier League Bournemouth.

That followed the 2018/19 season, in which the Brewers made history by making the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, defeating Shrewsbury Town, Aston Villa, Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough en route to the final four.

Albion then played eventual winners Manchester City over two legs.
