BREWERS striker Charles Vernam has won a prestigious EFL Award for a stunning goal playing for his previous club Grimsby.
One of the first signings brought to the Pirelli Stadium by manager Jake Buxton, Vernam's wonder goal scored against Colchester will whet the appetite of Brewers fans as to what he can do for Burton Albion this season.
It has earned him the Mitre Goal of the Season Award 2020 as decided by an independent judging panel.
Vernam spoke to iFollow Brewers after receiving his trophy.
He said: "It's something that is really exciting and I'm proud to have won it.
"The goal is one I have watched back a million times. At the time, I didn't realise how deep I was in my own half. It was just one of those where everything started to open up in front of me.
"When the lads were showing it back to me in the dressing room I was amazed by it myself. It's a really special goal and one I will always remember."
