VERDICT: SUNDERLAND

1 December 2020

CHRIS Beardsley says that the Brewers will take the four points from the last two games following tonight’s 1-1 draw away at Sunderland.

Beardsley said: “I thought the lads were disciplined, I thought they kept their shape well.

“I thought we could have done a little bit better with possession when we broke from them but we got a good goal after a great bit of play from Joe Powell which Charles Vernam followed in, and the boys took a lot of encouragement from that.

“We were a little bit disappointed to get pinned back at 1-1, but then I thought the lads were professional and saw the game out from there on.

“We’ve been pleased with the structure. The boys have tried to take on the information that we have given them and the work rate, the effort and the application of them has been top class. Ultimately, if you do that then you get points. We have done that in the last two games getting the four points - we feel that it's just reward."

Beardsley says that the team will now turn their focus to Saturday’s home fixture against Crewe on Saturday.

He said: “The lads are definitely looking fitter, the squad’s looking stronger.

“We’ll rest up in the next 24-48 hours and we’ll get them ready to go against Crewe.

“It will be nice to get back to the Pirelli and play on our pitch, and we’ll get ready for them both tactically and physically.”
