HEMMINGS ON THE WAY BACK FOR BREWERS

9 December 2020

KANE Hemmings will return to training on Friday and could yet make the squad that travels to MK Dons on Saturday.

The striker had scored five times in six games before picking up a quad injury in the warm-up at Hull a month ago.

Manager Jake Buxton will be keen to have him as an option again as the Brewers look to extend a three-game unbeaten run.

The manager said: “Kane will join the group fully to train on Friday. We are unsure whether MK Dons will be one game too soon for him. I have asked him to be completely honest with us. If he says he is 100 per cent fit he will be involved and if he’s not quite ready we will give him an extra day’s training on Monday and get him ready for Ipswich.

“I will have a catch up with him after Friday’s session and see how he feels.

“We have two tough games on the road now at MK Dons and then Ipswich on Tuesday, but we are in a good position in terms of the squad and the mindset.

“We had lads unavailable through Covid and injury and sometimes lack of form. Now the squad is fit and we are starting to get consistency of performance from players at this moment in time and we have picked the same side three games in a row now.

“Those outside the starting 11 will be judged on how they perform in training and even getting on the bench it’s about attitude and training hard.

“The attitude of players in the side and those outside the side has been good and everyone is chomping at the bit to get an opportunity to play.”
