KANE Hemmings will return to the Brewers squad for Saturday’s home game against Doncaster (kick off 3pm).
The striker suffered a quad injury in the warm-up at Hull on November 14 and hasn’t played since.
But he’s now fully recovered from the injury and will be in manager Jake Buxton’s mind for a recall.
Buxton said: “Kane travelled with the squad on Tuesday, but I spoke with him and he didn’t feel quite right. I explained what we needed from him on the day and he felt he wasn’t quite ready.
“He has trained well today so he will be available on Saturday and I would hope he will play some part.
“No matter how big the club and what size your squad is, you are going to miss your top scorer. We brought him here to replace Liam Boyce and he will always be missed. It’s great to have him back involved.”
Stephen Quinn returns to the squad after serving a one-game suspension on Tuesday and Buxton thinks he and Ciaran Gilligan who was on the bench at Ipswich will benefit from the rest.
Niall Ennis who suffered a knock at Ipswich trained today and is also available for selection.
That means Buxton will have a full squad to pick from, which is much needed going into the hectic Christmas period with home games against Wigan and Oxford following a Boxing Day trip to Lincoln.
Doncaster are up first, are in good form and are currently placed sixth in the table.
Buxton said: “I don’t think Doncaster will be as direct as Ipswich were. They play some good football and they are a possession-based team similar to Crewe.
“We have recovered well from Ipswich, have had a good training session today and will prepare for the game now on Saturday. We need points, we know that, and can’t hide away from the position we are in.”
