PREVIEW: IPSWICH TOWN (A)

14 February 2020

BURTON Albion face the long trip to League One’s most easterly-club, Ipswich Town, tomorrow (Saturday February 15), for a 3pm kick-off in Suffolk. Find out all you need to know ahead of the fixture in our match preview here.

HEAD 2 HEAD

The Brewers have faced the Tractor Boys five times over the last three seasons, but have yet to pick up that elusive first win against them, despite on a number of occasions having deserved more out of the respective games. Our most recent meeting with Ipswich came on the opening day of the season, as Paul Lambert’s men scored a deflected goal and defended resolutely to protect their lead.

One draw and four defeats makes Ipswich Town one of our least lucrative opponents in terms of points won, but Albion will be going into the fixture with the mindset firmly on three points.

BREWERS TEAM NEWS

Colin Daniel, Stephen Quinn, Jake Buxton and John-Joe O'Toole all missed out against Oxford United on Tuesday night owing to injury, but are expected to be fit ahead of the trip to Suffolk tomorrow. Oliver Sarkic will be eligible following his suspension during Tuesday night’s match.

IPSWICH NEWS

Having beaten Lincoln City and Tranmere Rovers in late January, Ipswich’s recent form has seen them lose three and draw one of their most recent matches; a goalless draw away at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night being the most recent. Their overall form, with only three wins in their last ten games, has seen them slip out of the play-offs.

Paul Lambert says Luke Garbutt and Teddy Bishop are in contention for a return to the Ipswich squad for Saturday’s game

MATCH OFFICIALS

Overseeing our match tomorrow will be Charles Breakspear, with his assistants being Declan Ford and David Plowright, with the Fourth Official being Ryan Atkin.

Breakspear has made 26 appearances this season, with 11 of those coming in League One. In those 11 games, he has awarded 53 yellow cards, converting the yellows to reds on two occasions, whilst also issuing one straight dismissal and five penalties.

He has not officiated the Brewers this season, but has overseen Ipswich Town on one occasion this season; a 4-1 home victory against Accrington Stanley on January 11, 2020.
