A CHARITY race night being held at the Pirelli Stadium will raise cash for the Rotary Club of Burton Upon Trent to distribute to a host of good causes.

The event will take place at the home of Burton Albion on Friday, February 28, and will offer an exciting night of horse racing, along with a four-course meal in one of the stadium’s spacious function rooms, with full table service provided.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards charities which are supported by the Rotary Club. Sponsorship of individual horses and races is also available at for £5 per horse and £25 per race respectively.

The Rotary Club of Burton Upon Trent supports a host of good causes in the area each year as members come together to help raise cash to benefit the community.

The group has just under 50 men and women members and meets on Mondays at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton Rotary Club helps those in need locally, nationally and internationally through things like the Pirelli Stadium Placard Parade, street collections, concerts and shows, quizzes, suppers, dinners, and much more.

Locally in 2018/19 alone the club has supported the Burton Addiction Centre, Burton Albion Community Trust, Donna Louise (children’s) Hospice, the Midlands Air Ambulance, St Giles Hospice, the YMCA (Burton food bank and its work with the homeless), Asthma Relief, SARAC, and Support Staffordshire, as well as a number of individuals and local schools.

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson is also chairman of the Rotary Club’s fundraising committee.

He said: “This is set to be an enjoyable event with a great meal and lots of fun on the evening which importantly will help raise cash that will support some very worthy causes in and around the town.

“I hope you can join us and help make this a very successful evening.”
