LUCAS AKINS PRESENTED WITH TROPHY ON MAKING 200 EFL STARTS FOR BURTON ALBION

15 January 2020

A SPECIAL presentation took place ahead of our 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town last weekend to mark Lucas Akins reaching 200 league starts for the Brewers.

In reaching the milestone in our recent away game at Accrington Stanley, Akins becomes the first Burton Albion player to make 200 starts for the club in the Football League.

Akins, who is now in his sixth season at the Pirelli Stadium, has also become our leading EFL goalscorer in the last year and netted his 50th and 51st league goals for the club against Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day.

As part of the presentation to mark his 200th Football League start, Akins was presented ahead of kick-off with a special commemorative trophy by Manager Nigel Clough and Chairman Ben Robinson.

And when asked about these achievements recently, Akins has said that he is looking forward to reaching more milestones with the Brewers.

"I'm very proud to represent this club because it's been very, very good to me," said Akins.

"I'm delighted that I can reach these milestones with Burton Albion, but the next goal becomes more important and hopefully I can reach more milestones, if I'm selected of course!

"I just want to continue to help the boys in any way I can and by doing that, hopefully, I'm contributing to the team."
