BACT CAMPAIGN RAISES HUGE FUNDS FOR TWO CHARITIES

THE #TwoPointSixBACT campaign has been successful in raising an amazing £8,000 thanks to our local community. Monies will now be split between the work of Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) and the University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Following an unprecedented period BACT are delighted to be confirm that £4,000 will be donated to the local NHS organisation for the tremendous work they continue to do. The other half will go towards supporting BACT COvid-19 community projects that are helping support a wide range of people in the local community.

Throughout the campaign, Burton Albion Academy players, families and staff have been highly proactive in supporting and taking part in challenges, leading to many generous online donations being received. This has been on top of many personal and business donations which has showed the power of the Burton Albion family at this time. 

Duncan Bedford, Executive Managing Director for Burton Hospital, said: “Our staff have all been working tirelessly to keep our patients safe over the last few months, so it is wonderful to see their efforts recognised through acts of generosity like this. We have experienced so many examples of community spirit during what has undoubtedly been a difficult period and we really appreciate the continued support of our friends at Burton Albion Community Trust, who have even opened the club’s doors to us throughout the pandemic so that we have been able to continue to offer some important services in the community to our patients.”

Tim Diggle, Director of Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “It has been fantastic to watch the community fundraising in such fun and innovative ways over the course of the challenge. We are truly moved by the dedication of the Burton Albion Community Trust and everyone involved. It is inspiring to see!

“All of us have been touched by this pandemic in one way or another and to see the Burton Albion Community Trust work together and encourage such activity lifts the heart. We are so grateful for the support and it means a great deal to us and our staff.”

Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone for their support and we’ve managed to raise an amazing amount of money. It will go a long way in supporting both ourselves and University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

"We are continuing to deliver as much community support as possible and these donations are crucial if we are able to keep making a difference locally. Thanks to every individual who has helped raise money through so many different types of challenges and of course every person, family and friend of the Community who has donated their money at such a difficult time."
