VITAL FUNDS RAISED FOR BACT AND BURTON HOSPITAL FOLLOWING #TWOPOINTSIXBACT CAMPAIGN

28 May 2020

NEARLY £7,000 has been raised following 26 days challenges as part of the #TwoPointSixBACT campaign. After reaching out to the local public for their help, these essential funds will now be used to support the future work of Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) and University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Overwhelming generosity led to nearly 200 separate contributions to the cause, following people’s participation in daily challenges. A £10,000 target was set for the challenge, with BACT still very determined to reach the target in the near future, due to the impact that it will have towards supporting people in the local community.

BACT have been overwhelmed by the support from the whole of the community, with a special mention going to the support of the Burton Albion Academy. Throughout the campaign, the academy has been highly proactive in engaging with their players and their families, which has gone a long way towards spreading the word and receiving donations.

Paul Reynolds, Head of Education and Welfare at Burton Albion Academy, said: “It’s been really fantastic for all of the academy players and their families to get involved with the campaign.

“We’re really grateful to them for their commitment and it’s important for our academy to support the work that our community trust delivers.

“During this period, it’s been another way for us to engage with our players and to give them an extra focus. We want to be able to continue to support BACT in everything that they do and they’re doing a fantastic job!”

Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “We’re extremely appreciative of everyone’s support and we’ve managed to raise an amazing amount of money. It will go a long way in supporting both BACT and the fantastic work of everyone at Burton Hospital.

“The support of everyone at Burton Albion Academy has also been phenomenal. They’ve committed lots of time into supporting the campaign and have given it plenty of exposure via social media. They’re a big reason as to why we’ve managed to raise so much money.

“We’re now reaching out to everyone to help give us a final push and to help to us to get to the £10,000 mark!”

Keep a look out on the BACT website and social media channels for more up and coming #TwoPointSixBACT fundraising events. Over the coming weeks, there will be a number of activities, quizzes and bingo events that people can get involved in.
