LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP WITH DON AMOTT SET TO CONTINUE

11 May 2020

THE impact of the coronavirus pandemic will not stop Don Amott and Burton Albion continuing to join forces next season.

Businesses have been hard hit by the lockdown and football at all levels has been curtailed until the outbreak of Covid-19 is under control and fans can return to stadiums up and down the country.

But that hasn’t prevented the Brewers and the well-known caravan and motorhome company agreeing to carry on their established partnership.

The Don Amott Stand is where some of the club’s most passionate supporters like to watch games at the Pirelli Stadium, cheering Nigel Clough’s team on from behind the goal.

The Hilton-based firm’s branding can be seen from all other areas of the ground and the Don Amott Stand has been the scene of some great celebrations as the Brewers have recorded major victories including last September’s thrilling Carabao Cup success over Premier League Bournemouth.

Don Amott and the club have a long-standing association and share the same strong community values.

Currently, the Pirelli Stadium is being used as a coronavirus testing centre as well as providing a home for NHS midwifery services, with the facilities provided free of charge.

Don Amott said: “Burton Albion is doing so much to support the NHS at present and this is our way of saying thank you and that we are behind the club all the way not only for next season but seasons beyond.

“Everyone’s health comes first, but eventually we will get back to football and it was important to say that we were renewing our sponsorship as Burton Albion is a fantastic community club and has always been great with the club I control, Mickleover Sports, in lots of different ways. By all working together and keeping up the good work we will get through this.”

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson said: “Don’s passion for sport and supporting the community are well known and we have enjoyed a successful partnership for a number of years.

“It’s tough times at present for all businesses but such is the strength of our relationship that Don was quick to pledge his continued support.

“Some of our most ardent supporters stand behind the goal to cheer on the team and they will be able to continue watching the action from the Don Amott Stand once football starts again.

“With Prestec UK agreeing to continue being our front-of-shirt sponsors and now Don Amott backing the Brewers as well, this shows the strength and commitment of our major partners and their desire to see football back as soon as possible.”

The caravan and motorhome business was founded by Don Amott Senior in 1963. Mr Amott was known to his customers as ‘Uncle Don’ and he changed the face of caravan retailing with bulk buying enabling him to offer competitive prices.

On leaving school in 1965, Don Amott Junior joined the company and was soon contributing to its growth and the important position it holds in the sector today.

Now, Don Amott’s Leisure Kingdom at Hilton offers more than 50 years’ experience and one of the widest selections of leisure vehicles, including motorhomes and caravans, in the East Midlands as well as an NCC-approved workshop to service and repair your caravan or motorhome.
