INJURY UPDATE: CHELTENHAM TOWN (H)

26 August 2021

MANAGER Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hopes to be able to name midfielder Bryn Morris in his matchday squad for tomorrow's game at home to Cheltenham Town.

But the game has come just too soon for Kane Hemmings and Ciaran Gilligan, who are back in training with the first team following their own injury lay-offs, and Tom O'Connor who suffered a hamstring injury at Cambridge United last weekend.

Morris is yet to make his second debut for the Brewers, having suffered a dead leg during pre-season and subsequent complications in his recovery.

Hemmings (hamstring) and Gilligan (thigh) have also stepped up their recoveries in training at St George's Park.

Hasselbaink will also be without Terry Taylor and Michael Bostwick, who are currently self-isolating in line with COVID-19 guidelines.

"Bryn could be involved tomorrow," said Hasselbaink.

"Tom O'Connor's hamstring is not as bad as we thought but he will still be a couple of weeks.

"Kane is edging closer - tomorrow will be a little bit too early. Today (Thursday) was his first day training with the group and I want to give him a little bit longer.

"Ciaran trained today as well. He's getting stronger but will also not be on the bench for tomorrow. But he's getting ready.

"Terry is isolating and has been now for over a week, so he's got another three days to go. He got it away from the club.

"It was one case and everyone had to be tested, and everyone came back negative except for a few days after with Michael Bostwick, who also caught it somewhere else and he is also isolating."
