BREWERS HELP MICKLEOVER CELEBRATE OPENING OF NEW FACILITIES

29 July 2021

BURTON Albion FC has helped Mickleover FC celebrate the opening of new facilities at the Northern Premier League club’s stadium.

Chairman Ben Robinson, manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and assistant manager Dino Maamria were on hand at the Don Amott Arena to see the improvements which include a new 3G pitch.

A Brewers XI also took on Mickleover in a pre-season friendly with the result ending in a 2-0 victory for the home side.

Councillor Robin Wood, the Mayor of Derby, joined the Burton Albion contingent to see the new facilities officially opened.

Construction on the project began in April, with the new 3G pitch being installed along with 250 new red seats being installed in the new main stand and new LED floodlights.

The 3G facility will also be open for bookings to the public and other teams - providing a valuable asset to the local community - while helping to prevent league games being called off due to waterlogged pitches.

Mickleover are managed by former Brewers midfielder John McGrath.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “We were delighted to share a special night with our friends at Mickleover and see for ourselves the great new facilities at the football club.

“Everyone at Burton Albion wishes them well for the forthcoming season.”

Chairman Ben Robinson said: “We have always had a great relationship with Don Amott, who is the sponsor of our home end terrace at the Pirelli Stadium, and everyone at Mickleover. They share our values in putting their club at the heart of the community and these new facilities will only help and support those ambitions.

“We were delighted that we were asked to come along and celebrate the official opening of the new look ground and we look forward to more opportunities to work together.”

Don Amott said: “I want to thank Ben, Jimmy and Dino for coming along and helping us officially open the new facilities. The work we have done here will be a major asset to the community and we are looking forward to the new season where we hope both Mickleover and Burton Albion will be successful both on and off the pitch.”
