AN AMAZING 100,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have now been given at the Pirelli Stadium, with the landmark figure being reached today.
The Vaccination Centre at the home of Burton Albion FC opened in December and has been busy delivering the life-saving jabs ever since.
Now Lisa Martinali has received the 100,000th dose at the Pirelli Stadium with Burton Albion Community Trust staff and volunteers celebrating the achievement.
Lisa said: “A huge thanks to all the volunteers who have given their time to the testing and vaccination centres during this pandemic. They have made it a simple and pleasant experience. Thank you!”
Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “We are delighted that we have reached this amazing milestone which has been achieved by a fantastic team effort.
“It was made possible by the football club and Chairman Ben Robinson donating the facilities at the stadium and by the hard work of the BACT staff, working alongside the NHS to make it happen. Since April we have been able to take over the complete running of the centre, freeing up NHS staff.
“We were also able to recruit a group of amazing volunteers who have been here from day one, making people welcome and seeing them through the process. It’s fitting that we have reached this landmark during Volunteers’ Week, which highlights the people who give so much to help others every day of the year.
“Everyone at Burton Albion and BACT are immensely proud of what we have achieved and the way the staff and volunteers at the vaccination centre have gone about their duties.
“We have received so much wonderful feedback from people receiving their jabs and I know they really appreciate what has been achieved at the Pirelli Stadium in such a short space of time.
“And we haven’t stopped yet and I hope people will continue to come and get their vaccinations when it is their turn.”
