EMIRATES FA Cup winners Leicester City will visit the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, July 24 (3pm) for a pre-season friendly with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion - and the famous trophy will be here too!
The Foxes, who possess such stars as Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel and Harvey Barnes, will be the first of two Premier League sides to visit the Pirelli this summer, with the Brewers taking on Newcastle United the following Friday, July 30.
Brendan Rodgers’ side won the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history back in May, beating Chelsea 1-0 through a superb goal from Youri Tielemans in front of 20,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium.
And the Foxes will be bringing the FA Cup trophy with them for the friendly between two sides who previously met less than two years ago in the Carabao Cup.
That night, Liam Boyce was on the scoresheet as the Premier League Foxes ran out 3-1 winners in an entertaining game in East Staffordshire.
Details regarding tickets will be confirmed in due course.
The Brewers will begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly at Nuneaton Borough on Saturday, July 6 while a Burton Albion XI will travel to Grantham Town on Wednesday, July 25. Details of further away friendlies will also be confirmed in due course.
