BURTON Albion will begin our 2021/22 Sky Bet League One season with an away trip to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, August 7 - mirroring our first ever Football League fixture back in 2009.

As it stands, Brewers fans will make their long-awaited return to the Pirelli Stadium for competitive fixtures in our back-to-back home games against Ipswich Town and Sunderland on Saturday August 14 and Tuesday August 17 respectively.

Our first away trip to Cambridge United’s Abbey Stadium since we won the Sky Bet League Two at title follows on Saturday, August 21, with a home clash with recently-promoted Cheltenham Town rounding out our league fixtures in August.

The Brewers have a mouth-watering clash at Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day, with Crewe Alexandra visiting the Pirelli on New Year’s Day.

Our Easter fixtures see us visit Accrington Stanley on Good Friday (April 15) followed by a home game against Rotherham United on Easter Monday (April 18).

The season ends with a home game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, April 30.

Our first round Carabao Cup game scheduled for the midweek between Shrewsbury and Ipswich, with our opponents to be confirmed later today. The first round of the Emirates FA Cup meanwhile is set for the weekend of November 6.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is excited to see fans return to the Pirelli Stadium.

"Having the fans back will be the most important thing," said Hasselbaink.

"Especially for that first home game against Ipswich, having the fans back in the Pirelli Stadium will be great.

"They're all important fixtures in their own right - you have to play everybody twice with three points at stake for all of them.

"We're excited to get started."
