BURTON Albion are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe on loan from Premier League side Brentford.
The 21-year-old trained with his new teammates for the first time this morning and adds further competition to the goalkeeping ranks.
Balcombe has been with the Bees from a young age, rising through the youth ranks and then as part of Brentford's B side, and working under Brewers Head of Goalkeeping Andy Quy during his time in west London.
An England U20 international, Balcombe was part of the Three Lions side that won the Toulon Tournament in 2017.
He had a loan spell at Boreham Wood in the National League and with Danish side Viborg FF, before spending the second half of last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, making 17 appearances for the Vikings.
"Ellery is a good, young goalkeeper, with a lot of good attributes," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
"He's coming in to fight for a place and the No 1 jersey.
"He knows Andy Quy well having worked with him at Brentford and he comes highly recommended."
"I'm buzzing - I'm over the moon to get it over the line, and I can't wait to get started," said Balcombe.
"I heard about the interest a couple of weeks ago and I was buzzing to come in.
"It's definitely great to work with Andy again too - he's always on me, he's hard-working and I like working with him a lot.
"I want to get a good loan season here and see where it goes."
Welcome to Burton Albion, Ellery!
