MANAGER'S VERDICT: CREWE (A)

13 March 2021

JIMMY Floyd Hasselbaink says he was happy with his sides solid performance following today’s victory away at Crewe Alexandra.

Kane Hemmings grabbed himself a first ever hat-trick for the Brewers during the first half to separate the two sides, as Hasselbaink’s side also earnt themselves a seventh clean sheet since his return to the club.

The Albion manager says his side must now straight away turn their attentions to the next game away at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

“We need to accumulate as many points as possible. Today was important that we kept on going with the good work that we’ve been doing. I think at stages we did that really well and the three points are vital for us,” said Hasselbaink.

“We are looking at performances and the performance was good. It was solid and we got goals at the right moments.

“Unfortunately, we can’t celebrate too much as we have another game Tuesday, but today was very important, just as they all are, like the one coming on Tuesday.

Former striker Hasselbaink praised the performance of Hemmings after today’s hat-trick, saying that he deserved his rewards following his hard work for the team.

“He was sharp. He is one of those that with the long throw-ins he will anticipate where the ball is going to drop. He did that really, really well.

“We capitalised on the mistake they made, we forced them into making mistakes and we were ready to punish them.

“Kane deserves it. He does a lot for the team and it’s nice to see that my striker who runs a lot for the team gets rewarded with goals.”
