MIDFIELDER Joe Powell has been nominated for Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for April.
Powell scored three absolutely stunning goals in April across our seven games over the congested month, playing well in all of them.
A stunning long-range strike after Sean Clare's lay-off against Portsmouth set the tone, with goals from direct free-kicks coming in our 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town and the 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic that secured League One survival.
Sky Bet's statement on the nominees said: "Technically gifted, the 22-year-old has finally made himself the fulcrum of Burton’s attacking play.
"His three goals were all stunners – a 30-yard howitzer at Portsmouth and pinpoint left-foot free-kicks over the wall against Wigan and Fleetwood."
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
The winners will be announced on Friday. Powell is up against Blackpool defender Dan Ballard, Oxford full-back Sam Long and Hull striker Josh Magennis.
Congratulations on the nomination, Powelly!
