MANAGER'S PREVIEW | MK DONS (A)

19 November 2021

BURTON Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says his returning trio are "ready to go" ahead of our trip to MK Dons (3pm).

Striker Daniel Jebbison and midfielder Terry Taylor both return to the squad following time away on international duty with England U19s and Wales U21s respectively, whereas full-back Tom Hamer’s one-game suspension has now been served and he will be available for the trip to Stadium MK this afternoon.

“They (Jebbison and Taylor) have both come back from international duty looking very good, they are ready to go and available for selection," said Hasselbaink.

“Tom is back, he had a good week of training. He isn’t somebody that misses a lot of games.

“He is someone that likes to play on the edge, has five yellow cards so far so maybe he can do better with those, but I really don’t want to take away from that competitiveness that makes him the player he is.”

Albion will still be without Deji Oshilaja and Jonny Smith for tomorrow’s game due to their suspensions, with Oshilaja ruled out for three games and Smith having served two matches of his own three-match ban.

Speaking on the opposition for tomorrow’s game, Hasselbaink says that his team will have to take the game to MK Dons.

“They will want to dictate the game from back to front and want to suck you in," said the Brewers boss.

"They are a mobile team with a lot of movement. We have to play high energy, get really close to them and take the game to them.”

“I want us to be able to change tempo in games, if we need to have high intensity then we can but also if we want to slow it down then we can also do that. It is one of the hardest things in football.”

A new member of the coaching staff was also welcomed to the Pirelli Stadium this week in the form of Head of Goalkeeping Jake Kean.

Hasselbaink said the former Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Notts County stopper will be a very good addition to the backroom staff.

“He is very ambitious and wants to work and is also a great lad to have at the club. He is young and energised and someone that we think he will be a very good addition to our squad.”
