INJURY UPDATE: LINCOLN CITY (H)

24 September 2021

BURTON Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he has a nearly fully-fit squad at his disposal for the Lincoln City clash tomorrow (3pm kick-off).

The Brewers boss hopes to welcome the likes of Jacob Maddox and Tom O'Connor tomorrow, both of whom featured in Albion’s penalty shootout win in the Birmingham Senior Cup away at Stratford on Tuesday night.

“They did well, we played him (Jacob Maddox) for 60 minutes and I think Tom O’Connor got about 45” said Hasselbaink

“It was just to get them back from their injury and to put something under their belts, they did very well, and they are now available for selection.”

Another of the injured players returning from injuries is Deji Oshilaja, who was also confirmed to be back ready for selection.

"Deji was unlucky with his injury, I kept him back from playing on Tuesday because I wanted him to train and work on specific things behind closed doors.

"He is now ready for selection; he is fit and ready to go.”

Heading into the game, Hasselbaink has said his squad have moved on from last week’s result at Crewe and are now focused on the challenge Lincoln City will bring.

“I don’t want to be too negative, but I also don’t want us to become a team that always reacts, I want to be proactive," said Hasselbaink.

“I don’t want to dwell on the result last week, it’s gone and we’ve spoken about it and now we have the opportunity to put it right at home against Lincoln - a very good team.

“Once again, we have to make sure we are right and at the very minimum give them a battle, in whatever department that may be.

“Last year they had a team together from back to front that played really good and dominant football and had areas of the team that were really strong.

“It is going to be a big test, but there is going to be plenty of them in this league.”
