EFL WEEK OF ACTION | CLUB CAPTAIN JOHN BRAYFORD TAKES PART IN DISABILITY FOOTBALL SESSION

4 April 2022

BURTON Albion captain John Brayford took part in a disability football session to kick off the EFL’s Week of Action.

Able Too Albion is part of the EFL Trust’s ‘Every Player Counts’ initiative. It’s a pan disability football session that offers youngsters the chance to get into football and engage with other participants with similar interests and a passion to play football.

Brayford visited the session at Anglesey Primary Academy as part of the EFL’s very first Week of Action.

All 72 EFL clubs and Club Community Organisations will showcase activity with players and managers and join participants across England and Wales for the week.

And Brayford praised the importance of community work as part of the Week of Action.

“It’s enjoyable to get out and see how the work of the football club and community trust affects the community," said Brayford.

"To see how much it means to people to have a face and representative from the football club joining in with the sessions, it makes it all worthwhile.

"Burton Albion represents itself so well in the local area for a club of its size. Compared to a club in a big city, Burton Albion has been in such a high percentage of local schools in the area and it’s amazing to see.”

Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “At Burton Albion we are proud of what we do in the community and to start off EFL’s Week of Action with the club captain visiting a disability football session is a huge privilege.

“The week will be massive in promoting and highlighting the work that both the Community Trust and the football club do in the local area and there’s still lots of activities lined up across the week.”
