MATCH PREVIEW - PLYMOUTH ARGYLE (H)

8 April 2022

BURTON Albion return to home league action for the first time in nearly a month when we welcome Plymouth Argyle to the Pirelli Stadium (3pm kick-off).

FORM GUIDE

The Brewers are back on home soil tomorrow and will look to leave last week’s 3-0 defeat away at Morecambe behind them. Despite being out of form, Albion’s last home match ended in a 3-2 victory over Fleetwood Town after an impressive fightback from 2-0 down.

Plymouth Argyle come into the fixture off the back of a 1-0 home victory over promotion rivals Oxford United. The Pilgrims have won seven of their last eight games, keeping a clean sheet in each one of those victories.

HEAD 2 HEAD

Burton have faced Plymouth Argyle a total of 13 times since the Brewers’ promotion to the EFL. Albion have won six of these matches while Plymouth have come out victorious on three occasions. The other four games ended in a draw.

A memorable match between the two came in October 2018 when Albion came from behind twice to secure a 3-2 victory at Home Park. A Lucas Akins strike and a Kyle McFadzean brace ensured all three points for the Brewers.

BREWERS TEAM NEWS

Oumar Niasse will miss out due to personal reasons while Conor Shaughnessy begins his suspension tomorrow after his red card away at Morecambe last week.

Ciaran Gilligan suffered a slight injury against Morecambe but has trained this week.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE TEAM NEWS

Injured duo Conor Grant and Steven Sessegnon returned to training this week and are expected to be included tomorrow afternoon.
