PLACARD PARADE RAISES CASH FOR GOOD CAUSES

14 April 2022

THE PLACARD Parade that took place at half-time during our home game with Plymouth raised £6,925 for local good causes.

A bucket collection that took place before the match raised an additional £1175.52 for the people of Ukraine including £151.15 organised by Sue Nickson at The Wickets retirement complex in Stapenhill.

The parade, organised by Burton Rotary Club, takes place annually at the Pirelli Stadium with companies signing up to have their names displayed on placard boards that are taken around the ground.

Good causes that Rotary supports include: Burton YMCA, Hearing Dogs, Burton Addiction Centre, Macmillan Cancer Support, Midlands Air Ambulance and St Giles Hospice.

In addition, Rotary volunteers organised the bucket collection in aid of Ukraine.

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson, who is President of Burton Rotary, said: “I want to thank all the businesses who took part in the parade for their support, and we can assure them the money will make a great impact on local good causes.

“I also want to thank everyone for their generous support of the bucket collection which will all go to provide aid for the people of Ukraine.”
