BURTON Albion’s U14s goalkeeper Lucas Joubert has been called up to train with the England U15s squad at St George’s Park this week.
The 13-year-old stopper, who currently stands at over six foot tall, has joined the squad for a four-day training camp following his impressive development and recent performances in the Brewers Academy.
Dan Robinson, Academy Manager, said: “Lucas is another example of the growth of our Academy and the hard work put into our players from all our staff across the age groups.
“To be developing players that are considered for international representation is incredible for a club of our size!
“After starting out playing in a Premier League academy our Head of Academy Recruitment, Lee Hyde, brought Lucas into the club where he’d been playing local grassroots football for Belvedere and Barton.
“We have now helped develop five players who have either been on either international camps or represented their country. We’ve had Teddy Sharman Lowe, Ciaran Gilligan, Jakub Niemczyk, John- Joe Power and now Lucas Joubert and we’re extremely proud of that.
