MATCH PREVIEW- SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

BURTON Albion return to home action tomorrow as we welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Pirelli Stadium (3pm kick-off) with just two league positions separating the two.

FORM GUIDE

Albion come into tomorrow’s fixture off the back of an impressive 2-1 victory away at Lincoln City last weekend. With the late heartbreak at home to MK Dons being the only defeat of 2022 for the Brewers, Hasselbaink’s men will look to continue this impressive start to the year.

The Owls also head into the game in fine form, with three wins in their last four games. Despite the recent hot streak, the visitors have lost their last three away games and will be looking to put that behind them tomorrow.

HEAD 2 HEAD

The two sides have only ever faced off competitively four times since Albion’s promotion to the Football League. These games came in the Brewers two seasons in the Championship where the Owls failed to get the better of Burton on any of those four occasions.

With two wins and two draws, the most recent of which came in a 3-0 Brewers win away at Hillsborough on New Year’s Day 2018. Goals from Tom Flanagan, Lloyd Dyer and Tom Naylor ensured all three points on an impressive day in Sheffield.

BREWERS TEAM NEWS

Gassan Ahadme, who was subbed early on against Lincoln due to a knee injury, is back in the squad and available for tomorrow according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

New signing Christian Saydee, who signed on loan from AFC Bournemouth in midweek, could feature along with the returning Harry Chapman, who arrived back on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY TEAM NEWS

Darren Moore confirmed Josh Windass and Tyreece John-Jules will miss tomorrow’s game. Along with them others confirmed unavailable are Lee Gregory, Cheyenne Dunkley and Dominic Iorfa.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The man with the whistle for tomorrow’s game will be Alan Young, who will be assisted by Lisa Rashid and Peter Gooch. The fourth official for tomorrow’s fixture will be Andy Haines.

Young has issued 50 yellow cards and three reds in his 11 games so far this season.
