ACADEMY GALLERY | BURTON ALBION 0-1 BRADFORD CITY

10 January 2022

BURTON Albion's Professional Development Phase side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Bradford City on Saturday morning.

Due to the weather conditions, the match - the Young Brewers' first since Christmas - was moved to a 3G pitch at St George's Park.

And Albion, fielding a mix of U16s and U18s due to player availability, fell narrowly to defeat against a strong Bradford City side.

The Brewers had good chances in the first half with Tristan Bennett and Joe Nyahwema going close prior to Bradford taking the lead.

"It was an even game," said Academy Manager Dan Robinson. "We had some really good chances.

"We had a mixture of 16s and 18s in the squad due to player availability against a good side in Bradford. It finished 1-0 but it's one we could have won.

"It was addressed after the game that the amount of running that is required to be a professional footballer, and we'll be addressing that, our running and our fitness, in training as we build to our next league game, and our EFL Youth Alliance Cup game with Salford City."
