MANAGER'S PREVIEW | GILLINGHAM (A)

14 January 2022

BURTON Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says new signings William Kokolo and Gassan Ahadme will be in the squad as his side take on Gillingham this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Kokolo and Ahadme, who have been brought in from Middleborough and Norwich City respectively this week, trained with their new teammates this week ahead of our trip to Priestfield Stadium.

Hasselbaink said he is "excited" to get both players in, and is looking forward to seeing what they can do.

“They are both great talents, obviously it is now up to them to both fulfil their potential,” said Hasselbaink.

“I am very excited that we were able to get them in. It wasn’t easy and we’ve had to fight hard to get them.

“We have got two really good talents by signing them and they will come straight away into the group.

“They will both be in the squad."

Speaking ahead of the game, Hasselbaink said he expects Gillingham to play a different way following the departure of manager Steve Evans, with Steve Lovell and former Brewer Alex MacDonald taking charge.

But the Brewers boss insists the focus is with us and how we perform on the day.

“They will play a different way," said Hasselbaink.

“They have a different manager and are going to look at different ways to play.

"We don’t know what that is, so our focus is on us and our identity, that does not change.

“We have to be sharp and see what they’re trying to do, cope with whatever they throw at us and try to play our game.”
