BURTON Albion can confirm that midfielder Tom O'Connor has joined National League side Wrexham for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old was a summer signing after leaving Premier League side Southampton, joining the Brewers on a free transfer on the expiration of his contract.

O'Connor had joined Southampton's Academy as a trainee in 2015, spending two loan spells at League One side Gillingham in recent years before moving to the Pirelli Stadium last summer.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international made 21 appearances for the Brewers in his time at the Pirelli Stadium, scoring five goals.

He now heads to the Racecourse Ground on a permanent basis.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: "It's one of those - it's an offer that the club couldn't refuse.

"He's only had a short time, but we would like to thank Tom for his commitment during his time at Burton Albion."

We wish Tom all the best for the future.
