DINO Maamria says Burton Albion will continue to go strong in the Papa Johns Trophy as the Brewers boss targets an extended run in the competition.

The Brewers host Sky Bet League Two side Tranmere Rovers at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow (7pm kick-off) in the first knockout stage of this year's Trophy - the first time the Brewers have made it this far in the competition.

Albion claimed three wins out of three in the group stage over Leicester City U21s, Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City to advance to the knockouts.

With Tranmere not having a weekend game, Maamria is expecting Rovers to go strong and provide a tough challenge tomorrow night - and the Brewers boss wants to see as many Albion fans at the Pirelli tomorrow night.

"There's no doubt that Tranmere will bring their first team, as they have a free week, and we'll pick a team to win the game," said Maamria.

"It's a competition we take very seriously. There's a chance to get to Wembley - we always take this Trophy seriously.

"I urge our fans to come down in numbers, hopefully it's an exciting game and hopefully they can see us advancing to the next round."

Maamria only has one new injury concern ahead of tomorrow's game, with winger Jonny Smith unlikely to feature.

"The only one is Jonny Smith - he did something at half-time with his groin," said Maamria.

"We were planning to put him on in the second half against Plymouth but he felt something in his groin.

"We've got one or two others nursing things who we hope will be back for tomorrow."
