DINO Maamria praised the character of his players after the Brewers came from 2-1 down with 10 men to record a 3-2 victory with a stoppage time winner.

Victor Adeboyejo was the hero, scoring all three goals and securing a big win for Albion, who moved off the foot of the League One table.

The manager said: “We showed character, we showed belief, confidence in what we are doing and bravery because we went down to 10 men. We went to 3-4-2 and it worked.

“That’s what we are trying to build the team around and I think we deserved that result today.”

The Brewers opened the scoring but missed chances to add more and only had a 1-0 lead to show for their troubles at half time.

Maamria said: “If you compare our performance today to the last three or four games it was below par. We were slow and the energy we have had wasn’t quite there. But we scored the first goal and everyone expected us to go on and score three or four. But at the moment we lack that killer instinct. They were there for the taking in that first 15 minutes, but we missed some easy chances and we need to be more clinical.

“I knew they would come back strongly in the second half and the goals were so poor to concede. Both goals came from turnovers, and we are trying to control that. We have to do better a turnovers we can’t carry on giving teams the chances we have so far.

“We scored three today and could have scored more but we have to tighten up.”

Maamria praised the hat-trick hero for his man of the match performance.

“Victor was outstanding and it’s not just today, last week and the week before he was outstanding. I really believed we were going to score that second goal even going down to 10 men.

“We have goals in the team and all the subs did really well and took us forward.

“I have told them we need every one of them as the 18 players we had today is it. We have one or two injured but that’s all we have. I have told them they all have a big part to play.

“There’s nothing better than winning it like that. Alex Ferguson always talked about throwing the kitchen sink at it in the last few minutes. And what a way to finish it.”
